Erik has experience in Music that is as extensive and profound as it is melodious and expressive. Whether he is playing an acoustic bass in a quaint jazz trio in a relaxed coffee shop still being heard in the back of the room as he casually walks his way up and down blues scales or when working with the much more aggressive techniques of rock and funk on the slender body of a five-string electric bass with the support of a house full of speakers and subwoofers his lines, tonal direction and musical persona as a whole are communicated so deeply, so effectively yet seemingly effortlessly with his skill-full technique and musical prowess at the root, being honed sharper and stronger with each note. Erik’s history in music and the number of ensembles he has worked with is too great to recount here, so I will list only a few. Wail attending Henderson State University Erik double majored in String Bass and Bass Trombone Performance. After some time of that Erik grew to miss the mountains of Colorado and upon his return began studying Music Education at Metro State at which time he also served as a Board Member and Assistant Principal Bassist in the Denver Pops Orchestra for many seasons. Erik is now playing with the Arapahoe Philharmonic, and providing special educational services as a Bass Specialist in the Arapahoe County Public School Systems. Along with the grandiose pomp and circumstance of these massive ensembles Erik has co-wrote numerous albums and Eps with smaller rock groups in the Denver area, however Erik most enjoys playing in pit orchestras for the theater. He has performed with many fabulous theatre companies and is looking forward to doing more. From playing in cramped corners of a dive bar to the dwarfing concert halls of the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Through his time at Avanti, he has proven to have an impressive and long-time studio full of students that range ALL ages, as well as a part in growing our orchestra. He was promoted to the Head of Strings Department in September 2016.
