Stephen Valeriano is a Denver based guitarist, composer, session musician, and music educator. Valeriano began playing guitar at the age of twelve after hearing the guitar work of Jimi Hendrix, and from that moment on, he knew that music was his calling. Valeriano moved to Denver in 2013 to pursue his Bachelor’s in Music, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2017 with degrees in guitar performance and music composition. During his time at MSU Denver, Valeriano studied privately under renowned Colorado musicians and composers including Alex Komodore, Jeffery LaQautra, Cherise Leiter, Dr. David Farrell, and Dr. Fred Hess.
Outside of his studies, Valeriano has been an active performer and music educator, and has run an active guitar studio for five consecutive years. Valeriano has been the recipient of numerous honors including the Altman Guitar Scholarship, MSU Denver’s Provost Honors Award, and MSU Denver’s 371 composition prize. In the fall of 2017, Valeriano was inducted into the Kappa Theta Chapter of the National Music Honor Society. As a composer, Valeriano’s work has been featured on the annual Colorado Composer Concert.
